Our service follows a pattern of God’s call and our response:
God calls us to worship
We begin by being gathered in God’s name and invited to turn our attention toward him.
We sing and pray together as the congregation.
God speaks through the public reading of Scripture and Preaching
Scripture is read aloud for the whole congregation, and we listen together. After the Scripture reading, children are dismissed to the back of the sanctuary to gather, and then they go downstairs for the children’s teaching portion.
A sermon is preached from Scripture, and we keep a brief silence afterward to reflect and to pray.
We confess our sins and take a moment of silence as we prepare ourselves before God.
God invites us to the Lord’s Table
We come forward to share in the Eucharist.
We partake together with gratitude
We sing as a response of thanksgiving and prayer.
Community announcements
We share a few updates about the life of the church.
God sends us with a blessing
We close with prayer and a blessing, and we are sent into the week.
Here is the shape and purpose of our worship when we gather on Sundays.
A worship that is larger than us - In worship, God meets us and forms us. We join the worship of the Church across the world, and we take our place within the praise of heaven.
Worship is visible to all - We worship publicly, drawing near to God together, open for all to witness. Guests and visitors are welcome.
The whole people of God - We worship as the whole people of God, with different needs and capacities for participation. There are tables along the sides for children, and the back is a natural place for toddlers who may need to move around. If you need to step out at any point, you can listen from outside and rejoin when you are able.
The Eucharist - We share in the Eucharist (communion) as part of our worship.
Children are part of our shared worship. At the start of the service, families participate together in music, prayer, and the public reading of Scripture. After the Scripture reading, children (up to age 11) are dismissed for the children’s teaching portion of the service downstairs. Youth (ages 12+) remain in the service.
To help us care well for children, we use a simple check-in process:
Sign in at the tablet before the service begins.
Pickup happens after the service. Children are released to the parent or guardian who signed them in.
Our commitment to child safety
We implement Plan to Protect as a way of caring for children and volunteers with clear practices and accountability
Join us for snacks, tea, and coffee right after worship.
We also share Fellowship Dinner each week. Depending on the week, this takes place at Cedarview or in homes. Meal details and sign-up are posted on the Calendar
